Hardwood Flooring Textures
Gate Hardwood Floors is a licensed hardwood flooring contractor in Boise, Idaho, that specializes in hand-distressed wood floors. With over 30 years of experience working with wood flooring, our artisans have the detailed eye that is required to install new hardwood flooring that looks like it's been around for centuries. We are skilled in creating a variety of hardwood flooring textures using Old-World hand-distressing techniques. Each wood species we work with has its own unique type of beauty and personality that we can further enhance to exude a warm, aged feeling inside your home or business.
Hand Distressing Techniques
We can custom distress your wood floor to match any sample or picture you bring us, by using one or more of the following techniques in either a light, medium, or heavy treatment.
Wire brushing creates a weathered appearance to further enhance a floor's natural wood grain. Depending on whether you prefer a subtle or more dramatic look, we can wire brush your hardwood floors with a light, medium, or heavy texture.
Band sawn texture replicates the look of rough-sawn boards from a more modern sawmill. We achieve this look by adding straight saw marks across the width of each board. Your wood floor can be finished with the full texture or sanded down to a lighter texture level.
Gäte Hardwood Floors can replicate the look of rough sawn floorboards from an early sawmill by adding circular saw marks using proprietary machinery that we developed. Your circle sawn floor can feature the full texture, or we can sand it down to your desired texture level.
For a skip sawn distressed floor, Gäte Hardwood Floors uses innovative milling techniques to maintain the original sawmill marks. This achieves a unique look with varying degrees of texture.
Gäte Hardwood Floors also has a number of non-structural, round and square pegs for a variety of wood species to give your wood floors an authentic Old World pegged look. Depending upon your preference, we can leave the pegs proud or sand them down to be flush with your floor.
